How to research an Amazon niche with product videos
Numbers tell you whether a niche sells. Videos tell you why. In a few minutes of watching, you see how the leaders present their product, which features they push and what real buyers say on camera. Here is the method we recommend.
1. Pick the 10 listings that matter
Search your main keyword and note the 10 best-selling listings, skipping the ads. Add 2 or 3 newer listings that already rank on page one: they show what is working right now.
2. Collect their videos in one place
Save the product videos and the customer review videos of each listing into one folder per niche. Watching them side by side is what makes patterns jump out. With AmazVids you can save a whole page in one ZIP.
3. Watch with a checklist
- What is shown in the first 5 seconds?
- Which 3 features does the video insist on?
- Is it filmed in use, in a studio, or animated?
- How long is it, and is there a voice-over or only text?
- What does it never show (size, sound, assembly)?
4. Listen to the review videos
Review videos are filmed by buyers. Note every complaint that comes up twice: a weak hinge, a smell, a size smaller than expected. Each repeated complaint is a product improvement or a promise for your listing.
5. Write your one-page brief
Sum up in one page: what everyone shows, what nobody shows, the top 3 complaints, and the angle you will take. That page guides your product sample, your photos and your own video.
