Customer review videos: the free market research most sellers ignore

October 6, 2026 · 5 min read

A written review tells you what a buyer thinks. A review video shows you what they actually got: the real colour, the real size, the noise, the way it folds. For sellers and careful shoppers, it is the most honest information on the page.

Where to find them

On a product page, scroll to Customer reviews and open the reviews with images and videos. Amazon loads more as you scroll.

What to look for as a seller

  • Defects that appear in several videos (they are real, not bad luck)
  • Uses you did not plan for: a new audience or a new keyword
  • Comparisons with other brands that buyers make out loud
  • Moments of delight you can promise in your own listing

What to look for as a shopper

  • The real size next to everyday objects
  • Sound, for anything with a motor or a fan
  • How it looks after weeks of use, not on day one

Make it a habit

Save the review videos of your own product and your 3 closest competitors once a month. Watching them in a row shows what changed, faster than reading hundreds of reviews.
