How to make an Amazon product video with your phone
October 6, 2026 · 7 min read
A simple, clear video often does better than an expensive one that hides the product behind effects. Here is a plan you can follow in an afternoon.
1. Study before you film
Save and watch the videos of the top listings in your niche (see our niche research method). Note what they all show and what they miss. Your script answers the gap.
2. Write a 30–60 second script
- 0–5 s: the product solving the main problem
- 5–20 s: the 3 features buyers care about most
- 20–40 s: size, use and details up close
- Last seconds: what is in the box, then the product on its own
3. Film with what you have
- Daylight from a window, beside the product, never behind it
- A plain background or the real place it is used
- Phone on a stand, in landscape, filmed at the highest quality your phone offers
- Short clips of 3–5 seconds, several takes of each
4. Edit simply
Any free editor is enough: cut the clips, add short text on screen, and use music without lyrics that you have the rights to. Check that everything reads on a phone screen.
5. Check Amazon’s current rules
Amazon’s video requirements (who can upload, length, formats, what is not allowed) change over time. Read the latest video guidelines in Seller Central before you upload.
